Me: Hello?
Caller: Hi. This is Randy I’m with the propane company.
Me: Uh-huh?
Randy: I deliver the propane to your house. (Long pause)
Me: (Thinking there’s a problem with the tank.) What can I help you with, Randy?
Randy: Well...Um...I was wondering if you want me to leave the bill somewhere else.
Me: What do you mean?
Randy: Maybe I can leave it on the tank?
Me: Why?
Randy: Well, last time I tried to leave it at the door, the dog was barking so much, I thought she was going to come through the glass. I don’t know what kind of dog that is but she sounds like the Tazmanian Devil.
Me: Leaving the bill at the tank should be fine.
Bwahahaha! Tazmanian Devil? We don’t lock our doors, would you like to come in?
I was unaware she was that fierce when we aren’t home. I knew she would bark but I didn't expect Tazmanian Devil. This kind of surprises me, given that Chaos was a wash out of any sort of protection training. I think she would let anyone get in my car with her. Apparently, the house is another matter. She doesn’t do that when we are home but she takes her queues from the rest of her “pack.” If we are friendly, she is friendly. If we are less than friendly, she hackles. Despite my initial disappointment that she didn’t want to do protection sports, she has become a darn nice ranch dog and I wouldn’t trade her (and the things she has taught me) for anything. (Though now that she’s four and I’ve forgotten how sharp puppy teeth are, I’m seriously thinking about getting her a little brother who wants to do ring sports.)
