Students and staff at Oak Hills High School will start the 2013-14 school year with a furry friend on the school safety team, a 7.5 month-old, 60-pound Dutch-Shepherd named Atticus. While several schools across the nation have police dogs visit their campuses, Atticus will be the first dog in SW Ohio dedicated to serve full-time at a school. “The use of a school safety dog will greatly enhance our ability to keep drugs and weapons out of Oak Hills High School,” school superintendent Todd Yohey said. “Reality is that drug use has increased in our community and we are determined to keep drugs out of our schools.”
