Dutch Shepherd Forum

Hi. I've been into dutchies for about ten years. I'd seen a picture of one in a dog encyclopedia one but never saw one in person until I started working at a kennel. I was introduced to them there, the manager referred to them as "hyenas". I have an almost 8 yr old hyena named Logan...he's the second one that I've owned and my 5th rescued dutchie. Sadly, all the dutchies that I rescued were from the kennel where I used to work. He's the most difficult dog I've ever worked with (and I've worked with a lot) but has made me a way better handler. Looking forward to meeting everyone here.

Welcome to the forum. It's wonderful that you've rescued.

I share your pain and pleasure in owning "the most difficult dog" you've "ever worked with." I thought my last one honed some skills, but my present boy is Rock-of-Gibraltar-tough...and I love how that's made me a better handler (and him an amazing beast) over time.

Welcome ! I also feel your pain They are not easy, Sadie has escaped the soup pot many many times.

Oh yeah, the things we say here about our dogs would make most normal people mad.

When I tell Tyson he may not see tomorrow, I swear he understands me... He will always give me a really pretty sit, ears forward, gaze on me, with an adorable cocked head as if to say "Aw C'mon, mom...you know you love me."
