After 2 days of being holed up inside because of steady rain, Tyson almost lost his life...

Oh, I have the recipe at the ready for anyone. During the cold snap and snow here to , i got the pot out many times. Sadie will be glad to hear she isnt the only one close to going in the soup pot. Thalie, although, wishes she would go in already. I have caught Thalie getting it out and putting it on the stove, but she dosnt know how to turn the stove on.

Yep, that is Sadie all of the time.

Thalie just sits in wonder how Sadie can be part of the tribe.

That would be Snickers in this house. Tyson's favorite thing to do when bored is pester my poor old man. After all, he is a 6 lb. living, breathing, moving, real-life squeaky toy. When it gets really bad I see Snickers eye-ball me with a "you suck, mom, for doing this to me" look.

Thalie gives me that look too. When no one is looking though, she does play with Sadie.

do you have to be a good cook to follow the Sadie Soup recipe??

like with Tyson, it has been overcast, drizzling, or raining here forever. they have torn up all the previously frozen-dead, now soaked grass so there is nothing but mud that they romp and wrestle in. and sunday and monday it was around-the-clock rain. the 2 puppies have been tearing 4-5-foot high fennel plants and other food in the garden out by the roots and re-arranging the furniture in the house. when there is no food left in the garden, i may put them all up for adoption or maybe puppy-soup would suffice.

If you plant the pups in the garden now, perhaps come spring you'll have some *pupperoni* to spice up your meals.

Fetch on the stairs! Literally saved my life!! She runs up and down for about fifteen min enough to take the edge off repeat every time she starts to get a ill crazy that tug and obedience. Don't forget a drink here and there and the occasional death threat LOL

I think I need the recipe too. We're going on day 5 without power. I've got 6 dogs huddled around my parent's fireplace. We'll be up to 7 tomorrow as we all travel to my brother's for heat and showers and I'm sure it'll be an interesting Christmas.

Yesterday I took the Dutch to the store since I have remote start and it's warmer in the car than the house. Odin ate a whole cauliflower when I stopped for gas. I had borrowed my mom's SUV and now it smells awful.

Oh Stephanie, i don't remember how long i went without heat or electricity last year [ it seemed forever - maybe 10days ?] but it does not matter. at 5 days, it is a cold hell. so sorry. and so many dogs to care for. maybe they can do double-duty as movable, 4-legged heaters; cluster them in one small room and close the door to warm up.
CAULIFLOWER - OMG!

[ you probably have everything under control, but if you cook with gas and are not in danger of running out, boiling or near-boiling a big pot of water warms a room so effectively as to be comfortable. ]

OMG I laughed so loud !!!

This time of year is so hard on them. I hate a mid winder thaw, the grass has a nice mud path where they run around. The house looks like some brindle tornadoes went through and sadie wont stop chewing on Thalie. I keep getting poked by Sadie trying to get me to play tug with her and her bone.

How fast will the house warm up if we boil enough water for 2 Dutch Soup? I'm thinking we'll skip the cauliflower in the soup though. I have no gas to my house. It's all electric and electric pump from the well, so no water there. My parents have a propane stove luckily and we've been boiling snow.

We're 2 hours down in a cauliflower crumb and post cauliflower fart filed SUV with my two. Warmth and running water is just an hour away. Merry Christmas everyone!

Tyson redeemed himself yesterday... He reminded me how lucky and blessed I am to have him in my life (despite having the soup pot at the ready....).

I lost my mom this year, so this has been the first Thanksgiving and Christmas without her. I pretty much lost it yesterday and as I was sitting at the table sobbing with my husband consoling me, Tyson left his task of systematically destroying a toy the neighbor girls bought him for Christmas and with the slightest of whimpers and a gentle nudge, found my face and he did his best to console me.

I love you, too, buddy.

awww, Stacy, Im sorry. Isnt it great having such wonderful animals? (most of the time)

Sadie redeemed herself too yesterday. Ill put the pot away ( for a bit). We have 2 gerbils, and Sadie spends her days staring at the cage. She goes up to them and sniffs and they sniff back, its really cute. Well, the day Sadie was waiting for finally happened, one of the Gerbils escaped ! Its a good thing Sadie keeps watch or we would have never known the gerbil got out. We were playing a game at the kitchen table, the gerbils are on a small table in the corner of the kitchen, I was sitting facing that direction, well I see Sadie trying with all her might to get under the table ! Im watching her thinking what the H** is she doing? then it dawned on me, one of the gerbils got out and Sadie was going after it !!! Holy Cr*^% !!! I yelled OUTSIDE! and the girls ran outside and we were able to catch the Gerbil. Whew !!!
