I am wondering if Niko is a dutch shepherd.



In the picture, you can see he has a white splotch on his chest, which is similar to what my black lab/pitbull mix used to have. I've seen some pictures online of DS mixed with malinois that had this, but I assumed right away that it was pitbull. He's a rescue dog, I'm estimating around 6 months (he's teething right now!). If he is DS, will his ears stick up? I've been feeding him a Blue Buffalo puppy blend, as it came highly recommended on these forums, from what I could tell.

It's really hard to tell from that one picture. A side side with him standing and a better view of the face would help. If he is a DS, his ears should stand when he's done teething.

I updated my post! He is sleeping now, unfortunately, so it is harder to get a side pic of him standing.

Safe to say he is mixed with DS?

I see pit/lab mix. His head is blocky like a lab and he is a bit thick in the body to be DS or Mal. IMO the brindle comes from some sort of pit mix.
