Good morning and hello to everyone. My name is Chris and I am glad to have found your site. I am a prior USAF Security forces K9 handler who currently is owned by a big beautiful GSD named Rocco. I have been interested in Dutchies since the first time I saw them. I want to learn about them thier temperament do they make good pets? Or are they best suited for working/ herding environs? Please forgive my ignorance I just want to know more about these beautiful dogs. I would like to get Rocco a female playmate to romp in the yard with and go on our walks with us. If you file through threads under Behavior, Education, and Whatever, you'll find tons of the information that you're seeking. It's been discussed quite a bit. Not blowing you off--just saying there's much more in the way of answers by reading threads, especially since you want a well-rounded sense of the DS (including, I assume, learning about lines that could eventually assist in choosing a DS that is better suited for your lifestyle).

One thing we all probably will tell you in regard to life with a DS: (Start a drinking fund now.)
