Just became the momma to an almost one year old pup from the humane society. She came from the East Coast and was part of Operation Dog Tag. They told us she was Pit Bull mix. My first thought was what an ugly Pit. She was so alert and such a happy dog that we went back and got her. We were given some papers that said German Shepherd and they told us that the only reason they put Pit on there was because they had no idea how a shepherd would be brindle. After doing a little research and being stopped by people that ask if she's a Dutchie, I've decided to come see what you all think.
She's very intelligent, follows commands fairly well, alert and active. I've had several people stop me and ask if she is Dutch. This girl definitely deserves a good home. So, what do you think? Dutch, mix, or crazy lady completely off base?
They also said that she has agility training. I've never been around agility training and wonder what I need to do to check and see what she does know and what commands I should try. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

She could be a Dutch mix, it's hard to tell from those photos. Standing size shots of her body and head are usually the easiest to go by. I see some sort of bully breed, but part of the face looks shepherd. Odin looks like a pit mix sometimes in photos too, so that's why it's important to get the proper angles.

As for agility, the easiest thing to test would be "jump." Put a broom stick between 2 chairs and tell her jump while walking past and see if she does it. Some other things she should know would be tunnel and up or climb. You can test the tunnel with a cardboard box cut on both end set up like a tunnel and up or climb is pretty easy with furniture or stairs.

Congratulations. Beautiful dog! We use the command "over" for jumps. Also may want to try "table" to jump up onto a platform. Our guy came from a shelter 2 years ago and it took some adjustment and learning on both our parts but he's an awesome dog and we are so glad we decided to bring him home! ! Yours looks like she's loving her new life!

I wouldn't know for sure but just wanted to say she has a really pretty face and looks so content snuggled up there.
