Hello all im Shawn, and i happen to love every thing about dutch shepherds, but before i even think of getting one i want a learn as much as i can about them? Any infomation would greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Herro derr! Seeing how you live in Michigan, there are quite a few opportunities to meet some up close and personal! I generally get all of my information about local(ish) shows from CherCarKennels. From conformation to working/sport shows.

Smart to do your research first. When you are ready do you think you will get a puppy or adult? Do you or have you had dogs before?

Welcome to the forum. Where are you at in Michigan? I'm on the east side of the state right outside of Lapeer. I'd be happy to talk more about Dutch Shepherds if you're interested. You're in a good state for the breed. There are at least 3 great breeders here, plenty of UKC shows, and a great community of owners that actively compete.

I have had a few dogs, i currently live with my parents atm and they have dogs, im thinking im gonna get an adult younger dog first, and im just north of monroe. What are the other breeders besides chercar kennels?

Aside from Cher Car, Nick King with Vonder King breeds an occasional Dutch Shepherd litter. Their last litter was bred from one of Christie Meyer's dogs of Northwoods K9/Thunderhawk (Christie is in TN now). There's also Bunkerdogs which Hendrix on the forum is from. Sami Hanna has one of Christie's dogs and may be planning a litter within the next year or two and she's in Michigan.

What about for adult dogs?

I would be more interested in rescuing one, and giving it a new purpose

I would go with NADSR then if you want more of a rescue.

Still want to get experience bring around the dogs and learning more about them, among other things before I get one, i wanna make sure im fit to even have one first
