Has anybody noticed that a gentle leader will cause hotspots, and without the use of judgement; any other type of neck collar if your dog is not yet leash trained can either hurt you or your dog? Does anyone have a good recommend on a type harness that works? The easy walk harness looks good because the clip is on the front but is it really effective? Is there a way to keep an adult dog from pulling using a harness or just good behavioral training? I have used a prong collar in the past, but always keeping in mind these are not collars where a 'pop' correction is needed. Thanks.

The only thing that seems to work with my guy is a prong collar. He will choke himself out on a regular collar if he gets it in his mind to pull. I tried harnesses and found them to be almost useless. For me, it's prong collar and verbal correction.

what kind of correction do you need ?

I've run into the same issue with harnesses. They always end up acting as a good way for my guy to pull me. The prong collar is my go-to and I only work him on the harness or flat collar.

I only use prong as well, My older girl only has a flat collar but she has had so much training I dont even need anything at all. My younger girl still pulls so I only use a prong, I dont even have to correct her, she gets to the end and it corrects her and she backs off.

Harnesses are designed for pulling. Doesn't mean all dogs will pull on one but a harness can make it easier for a dog to pull.
