Georgia Prison Pup

Just finalized plans to rescue a DS mix out of Georgia! There's a phenomenal program out of a women's prison there that takes dogs out of shelters and trains them for 12 weeks before offering them for adoption. Remy is a born charmer and a little mischvievous:
I call this the "I'm sexy and I know it" pose
But he's really a sweetheart
And he has a really mixed and gorgeous coat
So far guesses for his other half are border collie and lab. He's just shy or 50lbs so could really be anything it seems like.
Have read a lot of the posts here and found great tips for different toys and games to play with this fella so thank you to everyone who takes the time to share what I know is often very hard won wisdom!
Warmly,
NC gal

Welcome and that's a great story! What an adorable pup you're getting! I'm really seeing border collie in there for some reason. If he is indeed DS+BC, I imagine that'll be an exciting and challenging mix. Of course the brindle could be coming from some other source as well, so don't stock up the liquor cabinet just yet...

Thanks so much! I've been waiting since December for the right pup to come along and he made me smile right away. The trainer says he's a mellower version of either DS or BC. The brindle doesn't seem to be from pit since he's much smaller and has a longer muzzle. His tail is also more bushy instead of more whip like. He's a chewer though so I'm stocking up on lots o' toys!

What a great program !!!! That is fantastic for both the women and the dogs !! If he is mellow then the probability of DS is low, there are tons of breeds with brindle.
He is very beautiful and looks super sweet. I am glad you went over some of the other posts, if there is any thing you still have questions about, please feel free to ask.

The program is really incredible - the women also get a vet tech certificate so they can get jobs after leaving prison (which some already successfully have:

I just posted in the "Is my canine a Dutch Shepherd" forum so will be interesting to hear what folks think of Remy boy! I appreciate any thoughts, even if it's to gently redirect towards another breed if someone is knowledgeable about DS look-a-likes/mutts in general.
