So it was asked why?

Recently our gracious host asked about the lower activity around here. I looked for the thread and can't seem to find it. I had been trying to construct something of a comprehensible answer on my part and lost track of it. (Read that as me being as computer savvy as a rock).

Personally, I love this place. It is a great site for our brindled beasts and their persons. The DS is an amazing dog and they require equally amazing people to be with them. I can't express the gratitude for being accepted into the fold.

My computer time has been severely limited for the past few years. I changed jobs with an eye on my exit strategy for retirement and have been fully concentrated on that. Although I am more than willing to accept a lottery win and adjust my plans accordingly. It saddens me that I can't be here as much as I used to, but I see that there are way more competent sages to guide us. I'm not going anywhere. I still read and enjoy the pictures and posts. The Roo is still the Brindle Queen of the Coast. The new GSD puppy is still driving me nuts.
(4 months and 47 pounds, big pup). And eventually I will learn how to do this from my phone......

beautiful photo!
i hope its alright to pitch in here on this topic too :) on the subject im in a similar situation myself at the moment, its a very busy time of year also.
people are still dealing with exams and work and kids yet to finish for the summer, so itll likely pick up a little when everyone has some more spare time.
right now im embroiled in trying to finish a painting of a friends very recently deceased rottweiler for her, so i just about have time to do the daily norm concerning koda and demon, definitely no time for making posts or taking photos (my heads-up for the contest this month, in all likelyness)
i still regularly check to forum for anything new and the pressure to make an entry is a little daunting lately, but its still not quite possible right now.
maybe i can compensate with a little painting preview?

That is an awesome preview.
I invite anyone to post and comment here.
Heck, pour a cup of coffee and come on in.

So, I took the other post down, because behind the scenes, I am trying to find a prize sponsor for the photo and smarty pants contest.

I feel like averaging 17k visits a month, has to be worth something, and I'd rather that something go to the members of this site.

Lack of activity in the contests is going to be a problem in this pursuit, so it is what it is.

I'm not giving up, but just a little weary.

Love the pic of Roo and stuffed animal. Lexi was shredding them as a puppy so thought those days were long gone does this mean when she matures she might be nice with a stuffed animal? ;)

Hang in there, DS owners are still a small, tight knit crew. I would almost hazard to say that it is better for the breed this way. Cruise a GSD facebook page sometime. Deb is on a few and I hear her shouting at her laptop about some of the things said on there.

Keep an eye on the 4 Belgian breeds (3 now AKC recognized) and watch what happens with them as they gain in popularity.

Dinga Roo is particular that way. She has a few toys that she hasn't shredded. The bear and a hedgehog continue to live a happy life. Tennis balls tend to last a few days and then get pelted like a trapper skinning a rabbit. She has had a squash ball that has been her favorite since she was a pup. She'll sit on the couch with that thing in her mouth and just squeeze it for an hour or more.

H just recently picked out a toy he won't destroy... Yet. I too adore the pic of Roo and her bear!!!

As far as a reason why H and I haven't been as active on the forum... We've been busy. Some days H doesn't even get enough of my attention so I have defaulted to checking here sporadically and only officially logging on if there is a reason too, such as input or PM. And honestly a lot of people have to ping me and point out a thread I may be able to assist on, or someone has asked me a question and I didn't check some of the other topics that day. Even the photo contests get pushed down at the bottom - voting or submitting. Maybe making an easy to access button on the home page so people don't have to take three extra steps and find the most current photo contest thread? :D I'm lazy lol.

I am not sure if you stated this tongue-in-cheek, but in case it's not:

I've had the link to the photo contest at the top of the page since January.

Yes please! If I could have a system that just read me everything and summarized things, like JARVIS, I would be soooooo much better. Better yet if it just opened things I needed to do for me...

Hey guys,

We haven't been very active. We regretfully had to rehome Enzo. We could not figure out how to control his nerves or his triggers. He would attack our fence (charge, bark showing teeth, and almost foam at the mouth ) when anyone including our neighbors kids 3 and 7 would play outsid . He also charged and bit my mother in law twice. Luckily he did not have bite training and they were not full bites. More of an intense nip.

I still check back and lurk. We did rescue a terrier mix but he provides 0 protection /deterrence to bad guys. I'm a weekend graveyard cop and need that comfort while I'm away and wife and the kids are home alone.so I'm sure we will get a Gsd or dutchie in the future.
