Just wanted to say hello. My brother in law got a puppy off of craigslist and was told it was a shepherd. He had the pup for 2 days and found out he was expecting a new baby.
Needless to say, my wife and I agreed to take the puppy and give it a good home. We have had him for two weeks.

He didnt look like a shepherd that I had ever seen. After googling it was revealed he may be a dutch shepherd.
He is very smart and playful. He loves playing with my other dogs. He never wears out, until he collapses and crashes.

He was house trained in just a few days and sits, comes, and stays on command.

He is the smartest pup I have ever come across. We took him to the vet last week and they estimated his age at 8 weeks old. He has grown very fast since we first got him.

Anyway, i joined to see if he may indeed be a DS. If he is, this website will be a great resource for us to be able to raise and train him properly.

Going to the "Is My Dog a DS thread.

Thanks.
Michael

Welcome Michael. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

That's awesome that he already has the basic obedience, but 8 weeks is VERY young.

Generally, dogs shouldn't be removed from their mom and siblings before 8 weeks.

Thanks Centrop67, i appreciate the welcome. I fully agree that he was way to young to be removed from momma. We have been socializing him and my older dogs have been very motherly to him.
Thankfully he is very friendly to other dogs and people.

You only get one chance to do it right. Hopefully we can compensate for the early removal.

Welcome ! Your older dogs may take over the mom role. When I got Sadie, she was taken away from her mom way too early too and Thalie became her mom and did the discipline. they tend to be very very mouthy so be aware of that. We also need to see pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!
