i was wondering if anyone uses a dog coat during the winter on their ds and how they tolerate it? demons fur is quite thick but i cant help feel sorry for him seeing how comfortable koda is in this extremely damp cold weather compared to him (but of course the malamute would love the winter) i might be overcompensating because of her but ive ordered this and will see how he does with it. hes never worn anything bigger than a backpack harness

They dont need one. The only time I put coats on is for Thalie when I go plow if its really cold. IM usually out for a few hours and she comes with me, Im on a tractor so she is running along side. but otherwise, their coats are good

Lexi was born in September so that first winter when she was young we had an insulated, heated dog house in her kennel. My old Akita and gsd husky mix both had thick winter coats so I never worried about them but did have dog houses with shavings under our deck. This year Lexi turned two and the old Akita was put down. Lexi and the gsd husky mix are in the backyard and the young Akita mix rescue is in the kennel and we will probably turn on the heated dog house when it gets down in teens. How cold do your winters get? We rarely get in single digits.

Riddick's coat gets pretty long in the winter. The girls, short haired Malinois and short haired Dutchie- not so much.

I hear you! Dutch Shepherds have a double coat, but even then, some pups just feel the cold more than others. You might be surprised how much Demon appreciates the extra warmth, especially in that damp weather.
My experience with coats has been mixed. My old Husky loved them, but my current Shiba Inu just tolerates them. It really depends on the dog's personality. The good news is, since Demon's never worn much before, the backpack harness might be a good stepping stone to a full coat.
That coat you linked from Zooplus looks really good! The fleece lining will be nice and cozy, and the reflective bits are a great safety feature. Just be sure to follow the size guide and maybe even size up a bit if Demon's on the bigger side.
I recently bought a coat from
https://www.dealsandstealstoday.com/view-your-deal/ for my dog and have found it to be really helpful. It's been especially useful during cold, wet weather. I've noticed that my dog seems more comfortable and less shivering when he's wearing it.
Here's a tip for introducing the coat: Let Demon sniff it and get used to it before putting it on Maybe even have him wear it around the house for short periods before venturing outside.
