My Baby's Growing Up

Geyser is now about 10.5 mos old and finished her first heat cycle about three weeks ago. I'd heard and read about the maturity this would bring, but it has been kind of amazing to see it unfold.
I actually feel a little melancholy about this, but last nite, I took her kitchen XPen down to put away. I've been gradually giving her more freedom, and she's been demonstrating enough responsibility to earn it. So it, and the baby gate, are going out into the shed, and I'll just put a crate in the kitchen for the times when I need to put her up. I decided to use the Cabana Crate for the kitchen, since I want to make sure she'll be good in it before trying to take it on the road. (The first time I got it out to try with her, around 6 months, major disaster!

)
She still needs to be crated for certain things...she can't handle me being in a prone position, whether on the bed or on the floor (exercises, don't'cha know). For the exercising, I just exile her out of the room and close the door, which she hates

. Rather than getting into any trouble, tho, she'll just wait outside the door until I invite her back in when I'm finished up, and then she's very frantic in displaying her happiness at our reunion

.
While I love seeing her baby pictures (my screen saver is a picture show deal), I am so happy to have her where she is now, rather than being a baby puppy. It's wonderful to see the hard work paying off in such a well-behaved older puppy. But, being human, I still feel tugs on my heartstrings that my baby is growing up...

awww,, i know what you mean. Sadie is growing every day and maturing. She just turned 7 months yesterday. Like my kids, I miss the baby but glad they are maturing. She still has the puppy nose to kiss.

Yes, Sugar is approaching 10 months now and I'm seen her much calmer.
I'm glad I took lots of pictures too, as it is amazing to see the growth!!

LOL - I'm seeing the opposite. Letty is getting crazier! It's making me glad that I have a good foundation. I love the drive that I'm seeing in her now though. And it's being channeled correctly.

Uh you mean like that phase goes away at some point?? I am glad I am so stuffed up right now.. it muffles Gwen's talking and I can pretend I don't hear her talking back to me. My husband on the other hand has been walking around with his hands on his ears!!

it does go away, do you want me to tell you how long it takes, or do you prefer to think it will pass anytime soon?

Didnt you know boys never grow up? :dswink"
Sadie is 7 months now and is pretending she dosnt know what im saying. Her drive has grown too, she has become a tug-a-haulic. She is looking like a dog now, not so much puppy any more, but she is still all leg.

Sugar would grow taller and she would be all legs for a while, then she would grow longer in the body, and somewhere in the middle of those growth spurts she would look all in porportion. I actually noticed yesterday she was looking a little longer in the body, so maybe still more growing in the legs to go?
Her face is looking much more mature as well. Again, so glad I took a lot of pictures of her. She used to be sooo small!
