Tell us about yourself: Had a GSD, am getting a DS puppy in a few weeks. Compete in agility, obedience, and cross train in tons of stuff. Found out about this site from the DS Rescue yahoo list.

So, Geyser and I were hiking in the Shenandoah National Forest today, on a trail that leads to a couple of waterfalls. I finally made it to a waterfall! I was so jazzed, as I usually end up having to turn around before making it to any falls, on any trail :lol: .

Along this descending river, which is very low since it's high summer, there were a few nice looking pools. It was hot...so we decided to take a dip. One of these days, I'll get smart and start wearing my bathing suit under my clothes for this kind of hiking :yernuts: , but today, I had to go in my undies. Oh well... :roll:

So, I take off my shorts and Tshirt and hiking boots and sox and stuff, and pile it all up nicely on some rocks away from the water. We go in and have some fun in the cool stream and pool...then my little darling gets out and goes right on up to my stuff and shakes all over the pile! Every single time she gets out, she goes and shakes all over my stuff! Without fail!

My GSD used to do the same thing. You think I'd know by now that this is exactly what's gonna happen. I was thinking that I should look for a waterproof backpack :wtg: . I was glad I'd ended up not bringing my camera, which would've been in one of my shorts pockets and would have gotten all wet.

It sure was a fun hike, tho

HAHAHAHAHA, sorry your stuff got wet but Im glad you guys had fun. :dsshock:

Thalie does the same thing without fail ! When ever she shakes after swimming she walks right behind me and shakes !

Tell us about yourself: Dogs are my life, what can I say. GSDs primarily for nearly 50 years til bringing in my first DutchShep about 4 years ago. GSD rescue for 9 yrs, nearly 200 thru my home, rehabbed, adopted out. Been involved in AKC ob, herding, tracking, agility; Schutzhund-DVG; scent detection (HR-water)&narcotics, some patrol work. Mostly herding training at present on my little farm.

Slip one of those plastic grocery bags in your pocket to put your clothes in next time! Sounds like a fun place to hike. Pictures next time please.

I would have LOVED a cool creek and wet clothes afterwards, are you kidding? :mrgreen:
(But yes, it sucks when it is already nasty, wet and rainy, which is when this stuff usually happens to me :)

And we have loved and lost 3 - Vrijheid's Amie "Vada", Vrijheid's Hafwen "Letty" and Sather's High On Life "Narcotic".
We train/compete in mondioring and agility.

Tell us about yourself: I have had a DS for almost a year. Gwen and I are considering participating in PSA and or possible Ring Sport. I also have a Great Dane. I have grown up around working GSDs and my last GSD was a working K9 officer. I am all about dogs and animals in general and want to learn as much as I can about training.

Gwen is a shirt stealer... beware the DS when putting on your shirt.. I can't tell you how many times she has stolen my husbands t shirt while he was trying to get dressed and run around the house "killing" them. I am no help at all either.. I am too busy laughing :lol:

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!
