Can you tell what your DS WANTS or needs by the different barks, chirps or subtle whines?

Not really. Bramble isn't a talker.

I did have a dog that would tell me if her water bowl was empty, if her toy was stuck, if someone sat her in her seat, and if someone put stuff in her chair. My brother used to complain because, "that dog keeps telling on me." Cause she would. He'd sit in her chair, and she'd come find me in a different room, so I'd have to tell at home to move from the other room.

But, not Bramble. She doesn't talk.

Not a clue but the high pitched fast ones are most certainly excitement. Jay

With Rogue, I can understand if she wants a cookie, wants her meal, wants to play, or needs to go take a break. My husband tells her “fooey” when she looks at him and barks. I get mugged because she is communicating. I then tell him what she needs and do it myself or he will do it. He just doesn’t make the time to hear the difference in her noises.
Trill type noise over and over is break time. Bark-bark is cookie. And I think it’s bark-Bark because cookie is also two Syllables. To be fed is a short bark.... get the meal out!!!! Ha ha ha.
To play sounds more like ruff.

I am constantly talking to rogue so I think that has something to do with the communication from her to me.

I forgot to meaning the low whine in the morning when she’s ready for me to get up.

Idna has different barks for different things, like alerting, or excitement, or annoyance and will whine in different ways for certain things like eager to go to the park or wants my daughter's bowl of vegetables (she's really weird about cooked vegetables lol). They are all different signals. With Laszlo yes, somewhat, but still fully learning his signs and expressions for stuff.

Interesting that they have different cues for you.
