OCDish Routines

So, Geyser has this thing she does. I'll open the rear door to my SUV, and tell her to go get in the truck. She will circle the vehicle counter-clockwise before hopping on up. (If I am standing right next to her and she's on lead, she'll just hop up, but if she's off lead and free, she wants to do this OCD routine )

I know where she gets it, but why is the question. Just before we sit down to eat at the table in the kitchen, I tell her to go get on her rug, which is right next to the table, next to my chair. She has always circled the table counter-clockwise, to get a feel for what's on our plates as she goes to her rug  . Somehow, this translated to the truck-circling routine above :yernuts: . Both of these behaviors make me smile, and thank my lucky stars that this is as OCD as she gets...so far<fingers crossed>.

So, what OCD things does/do your dog(s) do? (guess I covered all the bases there, eh? :wtg: )

Maybe she would like to give herding a try?

Narc does the circling thing alot. Especially with a toy or sleeve in his mouth.

When I was training Cino...

It was pretty common to watch the dogs run the exact same pattern after being given the sleeve.

...

The dog's are pretty OCD. My two always run the same pattern around my truck when I let them out of the gate.

I am finding the OCD circling to be a problem with retieving things straight back to me. Lyric will go straight out to get something--but once she has it she wants to make this circling detour on her way back to me. When she starts that I just walk away--game over.

Thalie does the circling thing too, I let her out and she goes to the truck and circles then waits by her door, then as go out to the truck she will circle again, sometimes a few more times if she is waiting for the kids to get in. When she goes biking with me she really circles, she gets soooooo excited she circles at 100 miles an hour untill I tell her to down, then she whines.

:dsshock: Cant forget Sadie...... I did though

She circles alot ! when I go out back in the fenced area where they are, to go out the gate, she comes up and circles me untill I get to the gate, then if I dont make her sit, she will circle me. She also circles the pool if I am throwing the ball for thalie, dont get that one, but its Sadie we are talking about. :dsdoubt:

Now that I think about it, she is always circling.

My Zip is strictly an inside dog now because when I leave her out in the yard, she paces a certain path, circling a corner of the yard (one acre so it is not small), not just along the straight fence line either, more of a figure 8. Fast trot, over and over and over, never stopping. She can do this for hours. I was having trouble keeping weight on her because of this so she stays inside except for exercising.
