Prayers that all our members along the east coast will be safe this weekend.

I saw on the news that it wasn't too bad, hope everyone is ok?

Not 'too bad' can still be pretty nasty. I hope our in the path of the storm members will check in soon (as soon as they have their power back on?) and let us know. (Including yourself, Alspyce)

We're okay here in Massachusetts.
Rain yesterday afternoon that was pretty steady, but heavy at times.
Dogs were NOT wanting to use the yard so we had to leash them up to get them to go out.
Lots of heavy rain and gusty wind today. Lots of twigs and small branches in the yard. Could hear wood chippers at work all over town this afternoon.
Rain was over by the early afternoon, but it was still pretty windy.
We lost power for about 7 hours.

Saw some photos of some really bad flooding in Vermont.

Oh for heavens sakes. They are supposed to be waterproof, these Dutch Shepherds. (but mine do the same, tell me they would melt if they had to get out in a bad storm)
7 hours without power. Ugh. Been there, done that. Glad you're back on. It sucks to be online in candlelight, doesn't it?

All good here--hope everyone else is okay. Lyric loved the storm--the wind got her real excited. Bianca (my JRT) hates storms and gave me death looks every time I made her go out. The yard is now full of all kinds of new toys (sticks) for Lyric to run around with (Until I take them away from her). Wish I could get her to drop them into the fire pit, or is that asking a little too much?

Just got power back this afternoon, we made it through fine, down trees on the roads but no damage to the house. Thalie didnt really care but Sadie was getting upset when the heavy wind came. Neither of them cared about going outside for a quickie. The noise of the generators though really freaked out Sadie. Hope everyone else is okay.

All is fine in MD.. I am about 35 miles inland and we had a bunch of rain and wind, luckily never lost power.. my work however is right on the water, no work for almost 3 days, no power, trees took out a substation..

everything is almost back to normal, some employees still do not have power.

So glad to hear our east coast members fared well during Irene. Our state (Louisiana) was FINALLY blessed with Lee which dumped 12" in my area in two days. We were nearly 50" short of rainfall this year. And the temp dropped to 55 last night!!! I just wish that we could have shared some of Lee with my Texas neighbors (Judith) esp those that are facing those raging fires right now.

I'm concerned about Judith and all those fires too...hope none of them are near her!

I saw all of the fires in Texas, oh dear! We are getting drenched too, that means doggies inside more and more time Sadie can Chew on Thalie.

They are near. I don't have to evacuate yet, nothing is that close at the moment, but the entire region is ablaze. It's very scary because you know that it is just luck of the draw, if it catches or not. Wind and one brittle tree on a power line. One spark. That's all right now. The air was thick with smoke this morning and you really don't know if it drifted in from elsewhere, or if it is your turn to loose it all.
Keep your fingers crossed for our list member Syzygy. Her place is in an evacuation zone right now, due to a 15.000 acre fire that is not contained. Praying for rain.

Me to. The first thing I thought when I watched the news was what about your situation. We had a lot of rain here in Holland lately and were complaning about it already but this kind of news learns you once more to put things in perspective.

Oh man, Judith...I am so sorry to hear this but will cross everything I have that all you have to deal with is some smoke!

I guess just about every part of Texas is having fires...they had a teaser on the news this morning, something about some kind of metal that might be involved in igniting some of the fires, but didn't get to hear the rest of it, so no idea what they were talking about.

Thinking good thoughts about Syzygy, too...

Sure wish I could send you some of our rain...I'm not complaining to have it, but we caught up with our rain defecit and you guys need it more than we do. Too freaking bad it don't work that way, eh?

Took a quick look at the map and having trouble remembering where you are in the state in reference to the people I know who have bugged out.

Thanks for asking Eric. Few new fires, thank God, but not much of a handle on many of the old ones yet.

My general area is south of ouachita national forest, and east of kisatchie national forest. (zoom in on that cluster of fires) I am north of Tyler. Syzygy is closer to the border with Louisana/shreveport. Hers is the 30.000 acre monster (Bear creek) Click on any of the fires and get info on size and containment.
What we would not give for some rain! It struck me yesterday that the saying "hell or high water" pretty acurately describes the US at this moment.
