December 2011 Photo contest - Sinterklass

Post by icvanstra »

For this month we are going with a Dutch tradition: Sinterklaas. There are numerous theories where the American version of Santa Claus comes from - just ask any Dutchman and they will tell you! Sinterklaas is the original "Santa."

So the theme for December 2011 is:
NL: Sinterklaas
EN: Santa (I double dog dare the non-Dutch members to come up with a Sinterklaas photo!!)

...

The usual rules:
1) please submit one photo
2) you must have rights to the photo that you submit
3) please put the dog's name in your post
4) contest will be open until the around the end of the month ... voting will begin sometime after that.

Going to stress rule #3! :stickman:

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.
Location: Victoria BC

To you too Eric. We will know in the morning if we woke up to presents (like Santa Claus delivers here 19 days later) or another surprise, like being carried off to Spain, because we have not been good this year.

To bad for you. In Spain the weather is probably a whole lot better as it is here today (and yesterday and tomorrow).

I too managed to escape the jute sack on the steamboat to Spain. Amazing.
It is the same here, though. You may not get taken away by Santa Claus, but he could certainly skip your house with presents. I saw a T shirt the other day that said:
Dear Santa....define "good".
But I digress. Back to the pictures of Sinterklaas. The ones I have do not include Dutch Shepherds.
They must have kept the old man from coming down the chimney. ;)

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

Starting to look like this will be VERY easy with only 1 picture so far, but I too think K-Czar looks great!
