Re: I may have lost my mind.
Don't jinx him!
In 2009 I was seeking a Laekenois puppy and always "sorry, no more puppies", or "Do you speak German?" After failing on the fourth puppy/breeder (the German speakers), my boss asked me why I was crying. I had already made plans and had already spoke to the airline. I was ready to go the following weekend, and they sold the puppy locally.
By the end of the year I was looking for a Dutch Shepherd. I think it was meant to be.

His parents are Labelle and Lothar from Cher Car kennels in Michigan. Deposit still technically hasn't been paid, so I am still open to suggestions if anyone has someplace else they would recommend that I check out.

Re: I may have lost my mind.
Cheryl's dogs seem to have very nice, even temperaments. She is also very good about shooting hips. I haven't known any of them to compete in any protection sport outside of SDA, but they may. I know that they place a big emphasis one conformation, so that might be a nice venue for showing as well.
Overall, for a stable, semi-mellow (by Dutch Shepherd standards of course) dog, I think that would be a good match.

Re: I may have lost my mind.
Ok, THAT is exactly what I needed/wanted to hear. I have done some google-fu and have seen quite a few good reviews of Cheryl and her dogs, but hearing it from another person in the breed gives it a bit more weight.

Re: I may have lost my mind.
I lived in MI until a few years ago. Although I didn't train with Cheryl's group, I know them pretty well and hold them in high regard. I personally like to see more titles on the dogs than just SDA, but only because its not my favorite program. They work VERY hard to socialize the pups to a large variety of things and are an excellent resource to go back to if you ever have a problem with your pup.

Re: I may have lost my mind.
Yeah, after the fiasco with Nigel, socialization is one of my top concerns. I like the fact that her dogs seem to be jacks of all trades, too. I am really looking for a dog that I can explore my options with.

Re: I may have lost my mind.
checked out the site, looks nice. I like Lothar's look. He looks a lot lot the DS type we see overhere with full pedigree, nice small ears, bit bright well shaped eyes, overall very nice looking dog
Labelle has Leiru in her, so what could be wrong in her? haha Hope you can get a nice pup from this litter

Re: I may have lost my mind.
I've met some of Cheryl's dogs at a conformation event, and they were all calm and well behaved.

- Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.

I guess I will enjoy sitting on the couch and being lazy while I still can! (I didn't even HAVE a couch up until a couple months ago though, so I'm not really much of a couch potato. haha!)
