Things have been getting much better. I can finally sleep through the night. Koda learned that barking is not something that gets him anywhere. I did get him a dog bed but that didn't last to long. It sits in my bedroom looking like a huge donut. Anyways I've been letting him outside and he loves it. He will stay in this one play spot and just dig tunnels in the snow and play in the snow. He does it so well that when he gets inside he wants to pass out(unless other dogs are in the house he needs to show them that being tired is for losers?). Anyways for almost a month he was doing really really good in his room alone. He would play all day and he has a lot of toys he can play with. I came home last night and he chewed on my wooden window sills . I noticed that there are marks on my walls as well but I can't make them out. He's still teething because when he's chewing snow I notice blood.
I put him back in his crate as of this morning, I hope that doesn't get stuck/slivered in his intestines
It's not to bad, I can re-make them/sand it off butt that was un-called for. Have to love going backwards, this will be odd for him. I should have caught on when he tried to chew my wooden stairs and I caught him doing that. Ticks you off when he has a million toys and he has to chew something else. Oh well back to square one so I can be there and teach him wood = bad.

Are you certain that he's still teething and it isn't something else (blood in snow)? What color are his gums, are they puffy, etc.? Judith mentioned, I think, in your first posting that given his age, it's generally too old for teething.
He's still on a learning curve and testing. He seems to be doing well, though, yes?

Separation anxiety? I used to be able to leave Thalie at home and she would just sleep. Since I moved into my new house, I cant leave her loose. One day I left and she stayed home. She chewed the grills on my wood windows, one she chewed right through to the glass, I was so glad she didnt cut herself. Thalie Is older though, but maybe separation is a reason he is chewing the wood?

When we bought our house, a friend was helping us move furniture in they hit the corner on the wall into the kitchen and peeled up a little of the sheet rock tape. Merlin, the devil, continued the distruction by chewing and pulling the sheetrock until the whole corner was messed up all the way to the ceiling!!!! We invested in our crate the next day Glad you are sleeping through the night though, sounds like improvement.
Ellie did the exact same thing (on multiple plastic items she pulled off shelves throughout the living room). It was sad, like going back to square one with her. But she seems so comfortable back in her crate now that I feel like she just gets antsy outside of it. I would leave out multiple kong/food game toys and she'd finish all of them and then start destroying. And she NEVER did that from like 7-14 months of age. Bummer.
I'm gonna slowly try to move her out of crate again I think, baby steps...
Tried to get some pictures last night but we have no snow. The weather has been really crazy this year. It snowed like crazy and we had a few feet but the next day it gets up in the 50's and everything is gone. I'm' sure he's still teething.. there are very tiny back molars that look like might be coming through? His gums are black and I don't see anything puffy. Would his teeth just bleed like that? I always thought his teeth were rather small and was hoping they would get bigger. Maybe that is just the way they are. He gets crazy when there is snow and he will *scream* and start digging/ biting it. I notice the blood when he's chewing on ice or a snow ball from a snow man that was frozen good. I pointed to the sill this morning and I position his crate to block the other sill that I can fix. The other one I will need to get a board of cherry and repair it.
It could be anxiety.. he's learning to do things on his own. He still runs to me for protection but certain things he knows to handle himself. He does need to know there is danger out there though and that even I can't protect him. Right now he thinks he's bullet proof...

Sadie things she is bullet proof too, she is all full of herself, its really cute. Thalie just looks at her like
It can be good or bad.. he needs to find the balance. He knows that I have work for him to do and he does it. Last night we went to the school and I threw five balls. He will get one, bring it back... go to the other one etc. A dog came into the the mix and koda was so focus he just went about his business. The other dog couldn't figure it out at all until the last ball. Koda finally stopped and the other handler arrive just before some tension. Koda doesn't mind dogs.. but if they're in his face he gets touchy and aggressive. Smaller dogs he loves 2 death. haha.

that is how Xena is. It seems to be a fear thing. As she grows, anyone smaller than her is fine, and anyone bigger is scary. Lately though she has had the chance to play with a German shepherd, a mastiff, and a rottweiler that all had GREAT dog skills. It has made a huge difference in her confidence and ability to meet and greet.
