Tell us about yourself: I am a mom of 6 life forces - 2 kids and 3 dogs 1 hamster. I live in Ct. I have trained Ringsport and Agility and have 2 DS, one 15 and 7 and a Basset Hound Cookie who is 2
I was just dialing the phone to a basset breeder, I heard Sadie start to growl, not the playful growl, so I look over and Sadie is stalking thalie, then went after her so I grabbed sadie and hit thalie with the phone a few times. Then I dragged Sadie and put her in her crate.
Im wondering if the person picked up and heard all of that
Tell us about yourself: I was introduced to the Dutch Shepherd breed during my time as an Army veterinary technician working with Military Working Dogs. I fell in love with the breed and by pure chance happened to meet a DS in a local rescue who was a police K9 washout and was up for adoption. We adopted Zodiac right away and she has been an important part of our family ever since. We currently compete in Rally-Obedience and participate in Agility.
I only have one dog, so I haven't experienced that exact situation, but I had a similar one. Shortly after I adopted Zodiac, before we were able to properly socialize her, I took her to the vet clinic where I worked for a physical exam. I had her laying next to my desk while I made a call to place a drug order for our clinic. Just as I got through the menu and started talking to the woman about my order the veterinarian walked by my desk and Zodiac suddenly jumped up and started biting him :/ It took my brain a minute to register what was happening and then I yelled "NO!" and slammed the phone down so I could get up and grab her. Thankfully she only got his clothing. I always wondered what that lady on the other end of the phone call thought, haha.

Tell us about yourself: Hello, my name is Ashlee. I have a Dutch Shepherd who will be 5 this summer. We live in Northwest Territories Canada. Diesel is a typical Dutch Shepherd, very high intelligence and extremely high energy.
It seems like every time I am on the phone, Diesel and Halo start to wrestle. It's playful at least but really annoying because Diesel is vocal when he's playing. And every time I do the dishes, Diesel has to go out for a pee!

Tell us about yourself: Rescued our first DS male on Dec 27, 2011. Approx 4 yrs. Rescued from NADSR. His name is Odin. Adopted a 2nd DS from NADSR June 27, 2012. Kai - 6 months.
As I was leaving a message for my sister, a nasty fight broke out between Odin and Dakota. She heard all the nasty dog sounds, growls, yelps, etc and me screaming NOOOOOOOOOOO and then nothing. I had to hang up to make sure Odin didn't kill Dakota. not really funny at the time.
She called me later and to her it sounded like they were attacking me
I don't know about the fighting, but I have certainly had dogs who are like kids when Mom gets on the phone. Attention-getting behavior. (I like how a dog ALWAYS knows the cues by that particular signing-off sound we have when we're getting ready to end a conversation. They know you are preparing to get off the phone and wham! they're front-and-center. "My turn, mom.")
I wonder how common for fighting to break out? Never heard of that....
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

Funny stories !! My girls and kids are always good about me being on the phone and Sadie and THalie are usually always playing so I dont mind that. What Sadie got upset at was... while I was next door helping with their dog, (thalie, who will stay loose in the house fine as long as she dosnt hear my truck leave, I walked next door) Thalie had grabbed my hazlenut creamer ( I forgot to put it away, bad mommy) and drank it and tore the box apart, the dog bed was all wet with creamer, ( I did not realize that untill after) and they were licking it ( i was oblivious to all of that ) Sadie was mad that Thalie was licking it too.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.
Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!
I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.
Sugar does seem to bark at things when we are on the phone...its like, "you're too busy talking on the phone and don't see that person walk by on the street - alert, alert!!"
Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind. Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32. Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!
Just like kids, time to do something bad while mom is distracted! I just put the phone down and take care of business---my friends know what I'm doing, and the dogs figure out that I'm not THAT distracted.

Tell us about yourself: My name is Katrina, I have 1 dutch shepherd name Merlin. He is a handful and keeps things in our house very interesting and fun :)
lol great stories. Merlin loves to irritate Chewie by putting Chewies head in his mouth! Chewie freaks out about it, of course, and starts biting Merlins face and pulling at his lips. Merlin is only playing, but Chewie really doesn't like it, can't say I blame him lol, but Merlin always seems to want to have a Chewie to chew on right when I get on the phone.
