- Tell us about yourself: I am a women of a certain age who adopted my dog Ozzy two years ago. He is a beautiful short haired black and gold brindle. Unfortunately in the first year of his life he had four owners and a short stint in the pound because the people who took him had no idea what the breed is about. He has become a loving companion who loves his walks and particularly going to the off leash park and running with the other dogs. He is truly my best friend.
Hello from the Heartland!
Two years ago I adopted my beautiful Ozzy. He is purported to be a DS (I know his date of birth but have nothing on his lineage) and certainly has the look and characteristics of the breed. I am new to this site and wondering whether or not there is a genetic test that can determine whether or not he is a true DS?

- Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year! - Location: Corinth, New York

From "the heart of New York" to you in the mid-west, welcome to you and your beautiful beast.
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

Re: Hello from the Heartland!
To all who asked, the Heartland is Kansas City, Missouri! Take a pin, stick it in the middle of the USA and there we are. I'll try to post more pictures of Ozzy. The man who bred him was named Randy Oginbene; from what I am told not a very nice guy. Did not treat his animals well. Oz was born May 2009 and rescued from him by a friend of mine when he was just a puppy before the City came and took all the other dogs and he moved away. The breeder claimed Ozzy was pure bred, but due to the circumstances no papers were ever available.
