On April 14th in Eugene, OR "Force" and I entered the EDOC hosted AKC tracking test.
Raining pretty well for our track, we drew #10 out of 12.
I'm happy to report he passed easily earning his AKC TD title. ( TD = Tracking Dog )
Even more exciting news, we just heard from AKC and he is the first Dutch Shepherd to obtain a TD title

Tell us about yourself: I am a mom of 6 life forces - 2 kids and 3 dogs 1 hamster. I live in Ct. I have trained Ringsport and Agility and have 2 DS, one 15 and 7 and a Basset Hound Cookie who is 2
Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind. Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32. Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

Obviously I'm thrilled to pieces with this boy. I know I got very lucky to have him as my first Dutch Shepherd.
He's not an easy dog but the journey has been a loy of learning for us both. Who knows what the future will bring as we keep having fun out there.
He's already made his little spot in DS history. Force was the first Dutch Shepherd to title in Nosework, and now the first AKC TD too.
Sure enjoying getting out there and exploring the versatility of the breed.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.
Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!
I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.
Tell us about yourself: Had a GSD, am getting a DS puppy in a few weeks. Compete in agility, obedience, and cross train in tons of stuff. Found out about this site from the DS Rescue yahoo list.

Tell us about yourself: Annie & Nick, first time owners of a dutch shepherd, named Amber, rescue from North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue (NADSR), fostered and trained by Kim Futch. Amber's favorite things to do are eating, chasing balls, chasing frisbees and napping with us in bed.
Just curious how Force is registered. Is he a FSS dog with an FCI or other pedigree, or did you ILP? I was thinking about ILPing Odin because he's neutered, but I heard it was a lot harder to get verification as a DS because they're still FSS.
I wonder if there are any DS with tracking titles ILP'd as "brindle mals" or mixed breeds since DS wasn't an option in previous years.

Tell us about yourself: We current own 1 Dutch Shepherd - ThunderHawk's Child of Lilith "Mazikeen" And we have loved and lost 3 - Vrijheid's Amie "Vada", Vrijheid's Hafwen "Letty" and Sather's High On Life "Narcotic". We train/compete in mondioring and agility.
2 of my Dutch Shepherds were registered with the AKC Canine Partners Program - for mixes and non-AKC purebreds spayed/neutered. Once the DS was accepted as an AKC breed they had me submit the PAL/ILP registration and pictures along with their CP numbers and they assigned them PAL numbers and moved all of their trial results over to their PAL number. They were super to work with. There is a DS in Texas doing agility too and who went to the AKC Nationals this year that was CP registered and is now PAL registered. I thought the PAL process was pretty easy - just a pain to take the 2 pics.
I'd try for PAL. If they deny it then they will offer you the CP. CPs are not allowed to enter tracking tests at this point but PAL dogs are. I'm pretty sure there will be no problem getting a PAL on Odin.
