Facebook page.Is it me or has he gone a little nuts? Dutch is over a year it it seem like he's got a whole lot of energy lately. We even uped his running times and changed areas. Sunday we went on a 4 1/2 walk up and down the escarpment and still went for a walk after supper. No biggie. He's even gone through his toys.
Is he going through a growth spurt? Time of the year? What gives?

I bought thr dog because we both just putvthe last of or 3 dogs down. I had a dalmatian before I met my husband 4 yeats ago. The love of my life. Iove dogs that are smart and full of energy. I lve hiking but need yhe push. I am just learning alot about the new little guy, but I need more info.

Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner. COOLER WEATHER ! would do it for TD every time; the lower the temp the more energy he would get. total correlation until below 20 degrees F, then he would shorten time outside at least if wind was involved, which in nyc it always was at those temperatures. but you described it perfectly, it is like they are on a sudden sugar high - such a huge and dramatic difference weather can make.

Oh yes, the cool weather !!!!!!!!!!! the last week or so Sadie has been non stop !! She has been so frisky, as soon as I move she leaps up and bolts for the door then spins around a few times. It is like a sugar high. She is much more attentive and tries to predict where im going and run ahead, then If she is wrong she will run back and then run again where she thinks I am going.

We are a family of rescues, (yeah, me included), in Southern California. My wife and I currently have two dogs, a Golden Retriever/ GSD mix by the name of Morgan, and our DS mix(?), Dinga Roo. We had never even heard of a Dutch Shepherd before until we were stalked by this nice lady in the pet store who asked us if Roo was a DS. Dang if that lady wasn't on to something. I just found this site, so here we are....
