Radar (and Leela the Flying Dog) Play Ball

Post by centrop67 »

Hey guys you wanna play some ball?
Image

Radar calls it in the air
Image

Leela says, "yeah, but I can fly!"
Image

Radar says, "I am taller and faster"
Image

"but, can you do this?"
Image

"No, but I am ready to catch the ones you miss"
Image

"I am not going to miss many gettin' this much air"
Image

All I know is this sure is lots of fun!

Probably, but that goes both ways.

We are so happy we got her. I know there's times that Radar would disagree, but for the most part he's a better dog with her around.

Thanks.

BTW: That's NOT Photoshop. It's a combination of an extremely agile dog, and a decent camera with good shutter speed.

I took almost 300 photos to get the pictures you see. I also posted 20+ more on my flickr account --> https://www.flickr.com/photos/centrop67/

I can tell it's not photoshop...It's amazing what you can do with a good camera (I have a Canon T1i and am still figuring out cool things about it!!)

What great shots! This old back snaps just looking at Leela going air-borne. Radar's got the right idea.

As an aside, years ago I had a dog that I swear was made of rubber and lived half his life in the air. Came home one day and he couldn't move, just laid there. Emergency vet trip. He slipped something, requiring no movement for x-number of weeks. I know it was harder on him than on me, but it killed me to immobilize him, especially with those sad, puzzled eyes. (With Thor, though, I'm pretty certain a body scan would reveal multiple healed injuries here and there that never phased him. Guy's a monster.)
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

Tell us about yourself: Howdy,
We are a family of rescues, (yeah, me included), in Southern California. My wife and I currently have two dogs, a Golden Retriever/ GSD mix by the name of Morgan, and our DS mix(?), Dinga Roo. We had never even heard of a Dutch Shepherd before until we were stalked by this nice lady in the pet store who asked us if Roo was a DS. Dang if that lady wasn't on to something. I just found this site, so here we are....

Awesome pictures.

Somewhere in the the back of my head I got this old Cowboy drawl saying, "Son, you're gonna need a taller fence"......
Kevin, Debby,
Dinga Roo (DS mix), John's Goddaughter and Tyson's twin,
and Morgan too (Retriever/GSD mix).
Loving memories of our GSD Charly who passed at 17 years. (4/18/13).

I've always said I hope Leela doesn't realize she can go right over the fence with no problem. And then, yesterday she did it. My wife was calling Radar and Leela in from being outside. Radar came around from the side of the house where I keep my boat, but Leela didn't come. Sure enough, when my wife walked around the side to look for her, she was on the other side of the gate (4-foot) cowering 'cause she knew she wasn't supposed to be there.

We never let them out unless we're with them, but now we're going to have to keep a closer eye on her. A new 6ft gate is on its way. My neighbor on the other side is re-fencing, and we've offered to pay for the side adjacent to our house.

I had to keep extending the fences up until it wasn't worth Roo's effort to get over them. She would clear a 6 footer like a reindeer jumping a roof. She can still get over it at 7 feet, but she has to work at it and it's not her style.
