rough start for this possy

Post by Dutchringgirl »

No possums were harmed in the filming of this production

We were on our way to the bus stop when girls caught a scent. I wasnt too worried, I figured it was another chimpmunk and they were just catching the remnants of the scent. They were sniffing hard and the tails were going. It was a tree with an oppening at the base, perfect for the fuzzy guys to hide. I looked in but didnt see anything so I let them sniff and have some fun. then I saw a grey fussy thing, I thought it was the tail of a squirrel so I pulled them out as not to give the little guy a heart attack. Then I looked around the other side and saw the little possum jammed into a crevasse of the tree. Look how close Sadie was to him !

Tell us about yourself: My name is Karen and I have a dutch shepherd, Xander, born 6/14/13. He is my second dutch shepherd. My first was Rawly. Even though Xander is my second I still have a lot to learn. That is why I'm here, to learn, get advice, and meet people who love these guys as much as I do.

I'm glad the possum survived. Sounds like they can track pretty good. Perhaps they need a job in rodent control. Lol. My dad's ds Mia sniffed out a skunk not long ago. It wasn't pretty. She stunk for days.

Opossums are all fur and fangs when threatened up close, even the babies. They aren't beauties to begin with but when they spit and hiss...oh, my. Sadie did get wicked close! Glad it didn't nip her nose.
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

Tell us about yourself: Rescued a dumped DS puppy from the freeway and found his littermate in a nearby shelter two weeks later.

I'm surprised the poor thing didn't have a heart attack. LOL

Its a young posse. they are nasty but they usually play dead when scared. Last year One got into my fenced yard [ wasnt hard, just crawled under the fence] and I saw Sadie nosing something, so when I looked it was a Possy curled up and playing dead. Since it didnt run Sadie didnt know what to do with it but nose it.
