14 week puppy weight.

Post by SCTINMAN »

I got my Dutchie the day after Xmas and I couldn't have asked for a better companion. She picked up all of her commands within 5-10 minutes of me introducing them and I have yet to use treats as a reward. The thing I am worried about is her weight. She turned 14 weeks two days ago and she weighs 20 lbs 1 oz. maybe I'm just being paranoid but i see everyone posting that theirs dogs weigh near 30 lbs around 4 months. Is this a normal weight for a puppy her age. Her dad weighs 74 lbs and her mom is 70 lbs.

Only a veterinarian who's examined your pup can say for sure, but unless the puppy shows other health problems or signs of malnutrition, this doesn't sound like a problem.

Welcome ! I agree with Cent, but I would also not fret about it. There is a swing in the weight of these dogs. If she is happy and acting find and healthy, then I am sure she is fine.

H was I think around 23-30 lbs 4-5 months in and he was insanely skinny. Most dogs don't put on true weight until about a year to year and a half where the muscles come in. H was around 50 lbs until about a year and half where he sprang up to 60-62 lbs comfortably. If your vet isn't worried I wouldn't be. You can always check for worms but honestly if you bring her in next week she may have shot up. Along as her energy is fine, eating is good, and stool is good by puppy standards, then she's good.

Also I agree with Eric - puppy pics!!!! :D

Her appetite is great and energy is awesome. I just wanted to get some input from some of you guys because my vet had never encountered a Dutch Shepherd before.

I posted a couple pics of Leia. When I got her she was almost all black but her brindle is starting to come out more now!
