i heard that my dogs ears will not stand up until his teeth stop growing or are all in. now i have read everything on the entire net about ears and taping and gluing and all of the above. just putting this up for opinions. lol. does it look like my dogs teeth are fully developed and will his ears only come up after they are in. he was born on july 31, 2010.
Tell us about yourself: I have had a DS for almost a year. Gwen and I are considering participating in PSA and or possible Ring Sport. I also have a Great Dane. I have grown up around working GSDs and my last GSD was a working K9 officer. I am all about dogs and animals in general and want to learn as much as I can about training.
I don't know about all the teeth being in for your pup, but I can tell you Gwen's ears didn't fully stand until she was about 8months and even now her tips flop a bit when she runs.

Sadie Is 6 months now and she has all of her teeth, Her ears were kind of thinking about standing, then they flopped backwards, so I put nose strips on the back of her ears, They are still there.
I have read that by 8 or so months they should be up, but im not sure of when the up vs not up really should be.
Tell us about yourself: Dogs are my life, what can I say. GSDs primarily for nearly 50 years til bringing in my first DutchShep about 4 years ago. GSD rescue for 9 yrs, nearly 200 thru my home, rehabbed, adopted out. Been involved in AKC ob, herding, tracking, agility; Schutzhund-DVG; scent detection (HR-water)&narcotics, some patrol work. Mostly herding training at present on my little farm.
I had never heard of the correlation between new teeth and ears standing. Humm? With all of the GSD pups in the past, at about 5 months their ears were standing. I would start to be concerned at about 16 weeks (4 mos) if they didnt have any indication of direction. By 6 months, they were where they were going to be. Didnt realize that DS took longer. Something new!

By everything I have read, been told, experienced, when they start teething the ears might come down, if so, then they are back up about seven to eight months
