Yes... My Leo is a purebred! I have already learned so much about my little wrecking ball! It is nice to have this forum to learn and be connected to like minded Dutch lovers

Welcome to the forum.

I am in just about the same situation. I have 9 year old Shepherd mix and we just adopted about a year old DS.

Mustang is mentally a puppy, and the bitey-bitey is so much fun. We just started training, and things are getting better. :wtg:

Hopefully, your already on target for training. Do you have any special job lined up for this guy?

Finally, you have to get us some pictures posted. We love puppies. The FAQ has some tips on posting photos, but the biggest pain is the size limit. I recommend you try to reduce the file size before attempting to post them.

Oh yes we are putting an end to this nipping business. He has only been with me two weeks. He had a rough start...after being with us for 2 days was diagnosed with Parvo and spent 3 days in the animal hospital. Have no fear because our "wrecking ball" is doing amazing. In the 2 weeks post hospital he can sit, "kennel up", no potty accidents in the house, "leave it" and sleeps in his boy boy kennel at night. The "leave it" command was the newest because when I walk both dogs the puppy wants to pester my old dog so I tend use the "leave it" command when he wants to pester my older dog. I will try the picture upload in a day or so. I would love to hear about your multi dog interactions

It’s a lot easier to get a pup to leave the kitchen towel it pulled off the stove verses the pestering of the older dog which brings out the prey/play drive in the pup. At certain times you don’t want to deal with it, so the place command will be needed. Train Leo to place on a mat or bed and to stay put until told otherwise. This is a fairly easy task to learn. This way you can have your peace and quiet times in the household.

"Place" is the foundation for all our training right now. :wtg:

I forgot to mention in my previous reply that my wife calls these puppy hickies.

In our case, Mustang has a tendency to put them on our knees and inner thighs.

I don’t have an issue within the house. My older dog puts Leo in his place when necessary. It’s when we walk....it’s getting better as I Use the “leave it” cue
