Tell us about yourself: I am a wife, mother of 2 kids, 3 cats, 1 Standard Poodle (10 yrs) and Xena, a Dutch Shepherd Puppy.

A few shots of our herding today..

Thor is just a natural! He has got it going on. No biting, no lunging, he listens to the instructor and does not need a lead (even though it is only his second time out)!

Look at the grin on his face! Erin, the instructor can't stop smiling either...He watches so calmly by the side when others are working and sure learns a lot that way!

Xena, a few weeks shy of a year just started working off line today! THAT is really a major accomplishment for her!!! She is no longer biting at all and her "lie down" is so good that is almost all that I caught on film!

I hope the movie turns out. It was not of our best moments, but does show my girl using SELF CONTROL! Can you believe it? (now I just have to figure out how to post it) :D :D :D

And what do Dutchies do after all that herding work? Relax with their favorite kitty and let her kiss their ears!

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Tell us about yourself: Rescued our first DS male on Dec 27, 2011. Approx 4 yrs. Rescued from NADSR. His name is Odin. Adopted a 2nd DS from NADSR June 27, 2012. Kai - 6 months.

nice pics!! Thor is getting so big already. That is so cool that he really likes to herd - maybe Xena can learn a few things from him since he is calmer in spirit.
looking forward to the video and love the shot of the 2 dogs and kitty - so sweet!!

Tell us about yourself: Had a GSD, am getting a DS puppy in a few weeks. Compete in agility, obedience, and cross train in tons of stuff. Found out about this site from the DS Rescue yahoo list.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

Looks like sooo much fun with real sheep! Lyric has to settle for learning to herd her ball----we are sooo jealous! Beautiful pictures of beautiful dogs!

Tell us about yourself: Dogs are my life, what can I say. GSDs primarily for nearly 50 years til bringing in my first DutchShep about 4 years ago. GSD rescue for 9 yrs, nearly 200 thru my home, rehabbed, adopted out. Been involved in AKC ob, herding, tracking, agility; Schutzhund-DVG; scent detection (HR-water)&narcotics, some patrol work. Mostly herding training at present on my little farm.

You all are so funny! Those arent naked sheep, they are hair sheep, like my St.Croix X Katahdins. In hot humid areas (I'm in Louisiana - think swamp), woolies just dont thrive and their upkeep and health concerns are nearly impossible to maintain. So we have 'hair sheep', they actually shed like people do. I will have to get pics of my little herd and the new lambies for sure.

Naked sheep indeed....funny folks you are!! :lol:

Yes, I lose some hair everyday, I know :D But a dog looses A LOT twice a year, that could make them look naked. That's different shedding...right? So these sheep grow hair, and loose all of it, to grow back new? Or do they look this naked year round? :roll:
