She got 1st for the most puppy pushups (11 in 1 minute), 1st for the fastest down, and 2nd for the fastest sit. She was rewarded with 2 toys and 2 bags of dog treats! She got a prize in every contest! There were probably 10 dogs total in her class. I think I can safely say that she was the best trained puppy in that class.

She didn't win any trials or anything but she graduated from puppy kindergarten and won some contests!

Congratulations!!! Having a well trained puppy is a HUGE accomplishment!
I need to go back to having games the last night of my classes. People loved them.
Thanks for the reminder!

Re: Small brag about Roxie
Congrats!
It would've been nice to have a dog like Roxie back when I did Junior Handling. Once there was a tie for 1st in my Novice Obedience class. They had 2 trophies, but only 1 prize, so there was a sit off between the 2 dogs. It was a little Pomeranian vs. a giant St. Bernard. They both had quick listening skills and sat immediately, but that big guy's butt was so far from the ground there was no way he was going to win.
Any plans for your post class activities besides showing off to all your friends with untrained dogs?
Any agility or Rally-O or trick classes? I would have loved to see a video of that push up contest.

- Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.
Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!
I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences. - Location: Victoria BC

- Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.

Congratulations! That's the biggest step towards a rewarding future with a dog -- having a good basic foundation! Well done!

Re: Small brag about Roxie
Thank you everyone! A puppy pushup consists of a sit, a down, and a stand. Roxie tends to stop after a few because she doesn't get a treat for every command. They said that's a sign of a smart dog.
She would be an awesome junior handler dog! Never thought of that....but I don't have a junior handler. Originally, I was going to do agility, but I've had several people at the club say I should consider RallyO and Therapy with her. I think we'll just play it by ear when the time comes. Gonna be about a year before we can even think about agility so we have time. She has the best disposition of any dog I have ever owned. Wish I knew for sure where she gets her personality from.
