I know someone who is shipping a DS in to the UK in about 4 months 8-) He hopes to breed later on... but that will take at least 2 years from now... ;)

Tell us about yourself: I have a small kennel breeding working line Dutch Shepherds, and just stumbled on this forum while browsing the internet. We train our dogs in police K9 work primarily, with hopes of being able to compete in the near future.

Selena on here is just a hop, skip, and jump away. I highly recommend going that route...

I seem to have a condition that forces me to buy at least one dog from her a year... ::sigh:: LOL

Hello Louise, welcome here.
Would you mind posting a short intro about yourself in the new member section? Anyone with an interest in DS's is welcome here, but we seem to have trouble keeping the who is who staight, so we ask who is who  You can also create a signature in your user control panel, for future convenience.

As far as DS's in England. I might be behind on the facts, but I thought that the breed is not recognized by the Kennel club in England. For that reason (I assume) there are not many over there. I don't know if you need registration papers in England in order to be allowed to compete in all kinds of dog activities. In some countries you certainly do. If that is the case, you would be limited in your possibilities. Otherwise, it is a wonderful breed (but we are biased) and there are breeders of FCI registered dogs on the board, in case you do need (foreign) papers. Marjolein is one of them. And breeders who produce non papered dogs, in case it doesn't matter either way. Selena is one of them. Of course, imported pups would (still) require rabies titers and quarantine, I suppose, so that may be why were asking about British breeders?

With the new quarantaine rules since january 2012 it's easier to import a puppy to the uk. Before you had to wait 6 mo after the titer results, now a puppy may travel 3 wks after the rabies shot. You can give a rabiesshot at 3 mo(13wks). So now a puppy may travel at 16/17 wks instead of 10 mo;-)

For IPO the dog need an fci pedigree;-)
