- Tell us about yourself: My name is Charlie, My girl Xena is a purebred DS pup that I purchased from Mose Hugghis in Topeka Kansas. Once I learned about the DS breed, I became obsessive. I love dogs and especially a DS. I know very little but hope to learn and train Xena to get the most out of her. I hope to one day have all the knowledge and skills that it takes to be a professional trainer, I am a student in need of mentors. I hope that my participation in this forum will help guide and shape me into the adept trainer that I hope to one day be
First pics of 11 week old Xena.
These are my first pics of new addition Xena, She is 11 weeks old, full of drive and highly animated. The pics aren't very high quality. I took them with my cell phone. She moves around so much, it is hard to get a good shot. Any tips for obedience and potty training welcome.

- Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.
Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!
I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences. - Location: Victoria BC

Haha I know what you mean about difficulty of getting pictures. Even on sports mode with my dslr camera my boy Harvey is a blur.
He was estimated to 8months but I think hes about 6 and his ears are finally coming up. Chew toys do help build the muscles that help the ears stand. Plus it keeps them away from other chewables haha

- Tell us about yourself: Artist, Mother, Equestrienne, Educator, Homesteader wannabe, dog-lover. Not counting my current DS, I have had 2 GSDs and 3 rescued mixed-breeds. All of these dogs were rescues, except for my childhood GSD, who was a gift from my parents when I was 7, and my current DS who I bartered artwork for from the breeder. Maiyou, one of my current dogs, is a Pitbull/New Guinea Singing Dog of 13 years old. Still very active and "Young" in nature. I now also have a DS named Mokume, (pronounced "Moh-koo-meh") or "Moko" for short. Newest member of our pack is Freyja, a random mixed hound I rescued during a horseback trip in the middle of a state forest.

Yeah, I hear you on the action-shot thing. I only have the camera on my cell-phone, don't own a real camera, and my cell is old by technology standards. (5 years old) Hard to get good shots of wriggley pups and children!
Ears tend to be very individual dog-to-dog, as to when they stand. And even if standing, they will often "crash" during teething period and then eventually stand again, or one, or both, or not... *lol* Most of the time they will stand at some point, but the exact specific "when"s are hard to specify due to individuality of each dog.

- Tell us about yourself: We rescued our dog Maverick (5 months old) from a local lab and retriever rescue. He has the most unique brindle coloring and looks like a GSD or DS mix. We live in San Diego and love being outdoors with our new little buddy. They told us he is Aussie mix but he really doesn't look like one. We are looking for information and a place to learn about our possible DS.

You have a Xena too!! My Xena will be 3 years old in May, she is one fantastic dog!! Great name for a great dog!!!

- Tell us about yourself: DS and Mal foster newly approved aug'12 by NADSR and ABMCR. high-functioning Autistic in nyc/hamptons in my 60's. Rescued the smartest dog i had ever seen off nyc street in 2000. Tracedog's intelligence exceeded by multiples my judgement that day. My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner.
