- Tell us about yourself: Hi.....my name is Angela. I have 2 daughters and 1 granddaughter. All of my dogs (and cats) are rescues. I have a puppy that we just adopted that I think could be at least part Dutch Shepherd. We also have a 2 year old pug/min pin mix and an 11 year old border collie and possible lab mix.
Roxie's CGC Test will be this week.....
I have decided that it's just not important enough to put her through the separation exercise. We'll probably do everything else. Maybe we can take it later when she can stand to be away from me. They show me how to practice at home, but it just doesn't work when she's happy to be with anyone at home. I've signed her up for novice obedience. The instructor said to move her up. We'll find out how a 13 month old pup does at that level.....

Re: Roxie's CGC Test will be this week.....
Good decision, Angela!
One thing you can do is start teaching her a "wait here" cue. Tether her to something, tell her to "wait here" and walk a few feet away, etc etc etc. Of course, good treats when you return, untether her, etc.
When you can do that, take it on the road. I'm always asking friendly strangers if they'd mind helping me with training my dog (you'd be surprised, maybe, how many people are happy to do something, especially when they're already sitting there on the bench, taking in the sun and sights, and have indicated they love your dog...they're happy to hold the leash for a little while). If she's already got a cue that has nothing to do with other people, it's easy to use it with them, especially when you don't go away when you first use it, etc.
Let us know how the rest of the CGC goes!

Well....she aced the entire thing! I told the person who took her away that if she gets upset just bring her back out. There was no other way out of the area so she must have thought it was ok. I was told that she just sat there and waited it out. She was just in an unusually friendly mood. I wouldn't have even given it a shot otherwise.

- Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.

- Tell us about yourself: Hello everyone!
I enjoy my online anonymity. I'm open about most everything though many parts of my private life I prefer to keep private. If I’ve not offered particular areas of information it’s usually because I don’t feel it’s relevant to the situation. I tend to quietly monitor and observe, offering input when I feel I have something important to share and if I feel strongly about something. I don’t hesitate to ask questions if I don’t understand something, regardless of how it may appear to others that I might be a simpleton. Once I get started talking though, I tend to talk a lot, so you've been warned about that!
Please do not take this as anything more than what it is, a desire for privacy. I am not intending to offend or be rude.
Much Peace to all of you, naked and furry. - Location: Currently stationed on planet Earth, Sol system.

- Tell us about yourself: Artist, Mother, Equestrienne, Educator, Homesteader wannabe, dog-lover. Not counting my current DS, I have had 2 GSDs and 3 rescued mixed-breeds. All of these dogs were rescues, except for my childhood GSD, who was a gift from my parents when I was 7, and my current DS who I bartered artwork for from the breeder. Maiyou, one of my current dogs, is a Pitbull/New Guinea Singing Dog of 13 years old. Still very active and "Young" in nature. I now also have a DS named Mokume, (pronounced "Moh-koo-meh") or "Moko" for short. Newest member of our pack is Freyja, a random mixed hound I rescued during a horseback trip in the middle of a state forest.

- Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.
Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!
I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences. - Location: Victoria BC
