Tell us about yourself: Artist, Mother, Equestrienne, Educator, Homesteader wannabe, dog-lover. Not counting my current DS, I have had 2 GSDs and 3 rescued mixed-breeds. All of these dogs were rescues, except for my childhood GSD, who was a gift from my parents when I was 7, and my current DS who I bartered artwork for from the breeder. Maiyou, one of my current dogs, is a Pitbull/New Guinea Singing Dog of 13 years old. Still very active and "Young" in nature. I now also have a DS named Mokume, (pronounced "Moh-koo-meh") or "Moko" for short. Newest member of our pack is Freyja, a random mixed hound I rescued during a horseback trip in the middle of a state forest.

The creek has melted and flooded all over the place at Uncle Joe's farm. Last weekend we spent time near the banks, where there was still a little crust of ice along the edge. Most of these photos are from the weekend, except the one really swampy one, that was a few days ago, that was the golden field that so many of my prior photos where taken on, now it's under water!

Moko had a blast splashing in the shallows and bobbing for chunks of ice, that he would then toss and chase, or push with his forepaws in a hilarious manner like a child with a toy truck.

He also succesfully played with Bruin. Bruin is a large young Bernese Mountain Dog. Sweet, sweet boy. Moko would always thrash and froth and roar at Bruin when on-leash and both dogs were at the farm. Been working for several sessions on lots of approach and retreat attempts. Rewarding when Moko was calm, going for timeouts in the jeep when he'd get escalated... we got to the point, this past Sunday, where Moko was accepting enough of Bruin to let them play offleash. He had a good time, so now there are two large-dogs, Bella and Bruin, that have been successful dog-to-dog socialization opportunities. :)

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

I enjoy my online anonymity. I'm open about most everything though many parts of my private life I prefer to keep private. If I’ve not offered particular areas of information it’s usually because I don’t feel it’s relevant to the situation. I tend to quietly monitor and observe, offering input when I feel I have something important to share and if I feel strongly about something. I don’t hesitate to ask questions if I don’t understand something, regardless of how it may appear to others that I might be a simpleton. Once I get started talking though, I tend to talk a lot, so you've been warned about that!

Please do not take this as anything more than what it is, a desire for privacy. I am not intending to offend or be rude.
