HELP! Mounting the 4 yr old!
So Raven is my beautiful girl as you all know and for the most part she is an absolute sweetie pie. She is a year and 5 months and should be starting her second heat cycle. Which my husband and I have been watching for like hawks as we have roving bands of male dogs roaming the neighborhood. The problem is today she started mounting my 4 yr old nephew and if I am not mistaken she has been pestering my 9 yr old female (fixed) westie Terra. Normally Raven is glued to my nephews side laying with him as he watches cartoons or draws and playing ball and fetch with him but now I have to keep her away from him. Any suggestions on correcting this behavior? Is it something that she will continuously do or this a heat thing? Any suggestions would be helpful. As it is I had to explain to my nephew what she was doing...

Mounting and humping behavior is simply an over excited dog who doesn't know what to dow ith their body. I would have her drag a leash in the house, and just use the leash to remove and correct her as soon as she begins. Let her learn that interactions are OK, just not that one.

Ok so far the mounting was a one off or could be that the immediate correction (I told her NO! OFF! and put her in her kennel for a timeout) worked. Either way were still keeping an eye on the lil humper to make sure we can catch any repeat occurrences from happening. EEk lol!
