I'm joining this site to 1) learn more about Dutch Shepherds and 2) a chance of finding a wonderful home. I'm ADOPTABLE!
A few nights ago my foster mom applied a Sentry Flea Treatment to my upper back. I've never used this brand before. It was given to us by our Foster Office. At first I flung myself to the ground and thrashed back and forth. A bit like a dog trying to dry off after getting wet but more fervent. Then I chaotically ran around the house. After I settled down my breathing seemed labored and my eyes dilated. Under the table I looked a bit unusual, like I was scared. My 20 year old went to check on me and I didn't exactly snarl, but I lifted my lip. I just wasn't acting like myself.
I haven't used my big wire crate for a while but my foster mom decided that was a good place for me to sleep for the night and she slept close by. The next morning I slept in about 2 hours longer than usual but luckily I returned to my usual self. We consulted with the vet but I didn't have to go in for a check up.

My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner. i have no insights, but want to ask if Debbie seemed to be experiencing pain on her back, either at the spot of application or elsewhere on back [ where on back?]?
a distant relative of mine put Sentry on her cat, within a couple days she had to rush him to the ER and he passed away a couple days later. Stay away from it..

When I looked at the tube to call the vet I noticed the ingredient "mint". I'm wondering if part of what she was feeling on her back was a tingling "icy hot/ben gay" feeling.
The previous month I had just finished up Frontline Flea Treatment that was left over after my two dogs (Sammy a yellow lab that lived to be 15 and Sasha a "Doberdor" half lab/half doberman who lived to be 14) died as at 65 pounds Debbie is in their same age range. I opted not to buy a 6 month supply at the vet because I'm hoping Debbie will soon Adopted! But will definitely do so next time.

I'm so sorry to hear about the distant relative cat who passed away after Sentry. Looking on the web there were tons of cat complaints regarding the product, many of which developed rashes. Will DEFINITELY steer clear.
