We've been working on being gentle with cats. Our outdoor cat, Faucet, came up to them and head rubbed and purred at them. they didn't eat or otherwise maul him.

Tell us about yourself: DS and Mal foster newly approved aug'12 by NADSR and ABMCR. high-functioning Autistic in nyc/hamptons in my 60's. Rescued the smartest dog i had ever seen off nyc street in 2000. Tracedog's intelligence exceeded by multiples my judgement that day. My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner. He died july17,2012. i am dying without him. www.youtube.com/tracesobakawww.dogster.com/dogs/637612

Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

my 2 ''older'' dogs have been accused of some very grave carnage [ decapitating her cat ] by a next-door neighbor, but both of them LOVE cats.
[i had actually brought my dogs in the house for fear of their safety because i heard the commotion that WAS the demise of the cat; the cat took on what sounded like a family of angry raccoons, but it might have been just one. horrendous fight went on over the course of 2 nights - so the cat went back for more - and 2nd night was endless, horrible sounding affair. and now my poor sweet puppies are accused of the worst crimes against catdom.]
edit: Sharon's post of the carnage question - which made me LOL! - also [unfortunately?] made me free-associate a bit. Sorry!

I can add another facet to this... Hilde was visiting a relative's back yard a few months ago and had her first experience close to a cat. Her initial drive to chase and maul was subdued a little by my commands (and the leash), but she was still intensely curious. The cat seemed OK, just sitting... until Hilde's face got just close enough for a swipe of his paw. She got a single scratch, right on the eyeball. Luckily it was on the side, not near the lens. Vet said she was very lucky.
It's short for Brünnhilde (the name I use when she's being bad). This name was given when we rescued her and thought she was a GSD mixed with a tiger. Luckily, Hilde is a Dutch name, too! Like you, we pronounce it with a long E, just because it seems to suit her personality.
After some anti-bacterial cream, her eye is back to normal. That episode hasn't damped her curiosity at all!

ok, after looking at Mobil and the cat - which indeed is very cute - there was a video that youtube offered entitled ''dog wants a kitty.'' it is a must-see for amusement purposes.
Tell us about yourself: Parent of a rescued pup, Epona. She was abandoned with 6 of her siblings in the woods without any food or their mama. She's definitely a mix but it looks like she has some features of a DS! She loves to chew on things and is very hyper!
