New Puppy Playing With Pug Cross

Okay so i recently got a DS bitch pup (Dolly) and shes about 14 weeks now, I also have a cross pug (Poppy) who is about 4yrs. They play quite nicely and it has never got nasty between them. What i'm worried about is that what Dolly can get away with now (biting Poppy's legs and face and back) I don't think she should do when she's older because she will be that much bigger than Poppy. So what i'm asking is, will she just know what she can get away with when she's bigger or should I do something to make sure she knows and if so what? Like I said it never gets nasty between them and they play fight quite happily all day long.

my pup is about the same age as your pup, and my other Dutchie is 9. I had the same question when I brought the pup home. The first week I slowly let the time they played increase, they had to feel each other out, set each others boundaries. I let them tell each other what they wanted from each other. The first two weeks i did have to step in a bit, nothing major but just to ease them. I still let them set each others boundaries. Thalie will let Sadie know when her face has been licked enough, but mostly they best buds now and like yours, play play play. I do notice that Saide will play with me and the kids the same way she plays with Thalie so I make sure the pup knows what each person will allow, and I let Thalie set her own boundaries with the pup. Although, since Dolly will be larger than Poppy, I would probably keep an eye out as Dolly gets bigger.

Thanks for the reply, yeah Poppy has told her off a few times when Dolly has accidently hurt her (I think its because Dolly still has her little spiky puppy teeth lol) and i never stop Poppy from doing it which I think is a good thing because Poppy can let her know at this age what she likes and what she doesn't. By the looks of how they are now I think Poppy is going to be the boss lol but just wondered if there was anything i should be doing that i'm not at the moment, Thanks Again.

Im sure the little razor teeth they have hurt! I know Sadie pinched thalie a few times. Thalie would bowl over sadie a few times, but now i think they have settled in to each other and how to play responsibly, well ... sort of. Just keep eyes on them and see how they are, youll get a feel of how they react with each other.
