petsafe remote trainer

Post by cordeliandemon »

has anyone heard much about these? i know there are many many better brands for ecollars but the vast majority either dont ship to ireland or arnt sold here.
i got a cheaper "easypet stubborn dog" trainer for koda off ebay some years ago, twice, and they both broke within 6 months (both times while i was hiking in the woods with koda offleash, bad) so i thought id look for something more legitimate.

this seems to be my best option considering whats available for where i live, and it has a quick release buckle that should be a huge help for demons panic when it comes to collars being put on/taken off. a 900m range and supposidly being waterproof shouldnt hurt either.
if anyone has any thoughts on it id be interested, it should be here next week and ill be taking it very very slow with demon.
(the broken straw that finally made me get this with my savings was demon refusing to go back out to kodas garden after his dinner on wednesday, i was left standing there with him being a goofball and refusing to go within 20 feet of the gate for a solid 2 hours. teenagers  )

Sport Dog Is a brand my neighbor has used for the last year or two and it seems to continue to work great for her.

From what I remember Petsafe is a fairly cheap brand that has a 50/50 run of being good or really really bad. Sport dog, Dogtra, and Educator are all reliable. You may want to look into Bart Bellon's ecollar too - probably easier to ship to Ireland from him, though it is pricey.

Petsafe owns sportdog now. Most of their models are pretty similar and the quality of the upper end petsafe collars has gone up considerably. The lower end ones are still pretty inconsistent. Sportdog/Petsafe are still really limited as they have 14 levels max. I think educators are fairly easy to get overseas, you just have to look around for a trainer that is also a dealer.
