When should I expect the ears to pop up?

Just picked up my pup yesterday.. He was born sept. 8 I named him jax... His ears are still kinda floppy I was wondering when should his ears start to stand an if i should glue them up to help them up... His sister ears were up except for the last 1/2"-3/4" of the ear... If I should have to glue them any suggestion on what an how to do this thank you

Can you ask the breeder?

All my dogs had ears up when I got them at 8 weeks.

I got Sadie at 4 months, her ears were big and floppy, they did not stand up until she was about 7 months

Congratulations on your new puppy!

Don't start getting all messed up about those ears yet...it will take time. They can go up, then the can go floopy again during teething (4-6 mos), or go up and stay up thru teething, or go up after teething. But, your puppy is just a baby and has lots of time for his ears to go up.

There are a bunch of threads on this forum about ears, so why not do a search (upper right hand corner of your screen...just type in "ears"), and read them first.

Thanks all for the replays... I'm going to pick up his sister next week an her ears are already up but I will sure do a search on them an I will try to get some pics on here of my pups

Definately search the forum, I had the same problem. I started getting them better food and definately something hard to chew on. The more my pup seemed to chew on his nylabone the higher his ears would go. After you search the forum if you have any other questions just ask, my pups ears were the same way and his are standing now and he is almost 3 months. NO worries, like they said, between 5-7 months they will go up and down

Be careful about having two litter mates live together, you better know what you're doing.

RE ears, depends on the dog and the ears. My female had little ears that were up at 8wks, then they started to get longer and longer.. and longer

then got floppy for a couple weeks when she was teething, then went back up. My male's ears have been up since he was at least 6wks and have been all the way up through teething, didn't even get soft.

I don't know about DS puppies growing up together, but......

I had two black lab puppies growing up together and it's INSANITY!!! Better get their own room with rubber padded walls.

Two puppies of similar age at ones can be very difficult to raise properly, but two litter mates especially are notorious and can grow up to hate each other and fight. No reputable breeder who cares about their dogs would ever sell two litter mates to the same person unless they knew they were capable and qualified to raise them properly.

The pups need to be separated so that they don't end up bonding to each other more then the people and can be trained. They should be walked separately, have separate training sessions, be taught how to be by themselves... It's a TON of work.

Most people who get two pups thinking it will be cute and they will keep each other company really end up regretting their decision and often one of the dogs eventually ends up being rehomed.

I was wondering if two littermates would bond more than two pups from different litters. Maybe its just the breed, My friend has two pugs from the same litter and two chiwawas from the same litter and every one got along great. I would never in my right mind have two pups anyway

Having two kids a year apart is enough LOL. I have seen with Sadie though the bonding part, Sadie bonded to Thalie before me and it made training a bit tougher, she focused on Thalie more than me. I have to agree anyway with the training separate.

I have to add, they were never agressive with each other, never drew a drop of blood. It was just WRESTLE MANIA, i.e body slamming into walls and furniture and such.........

I think that depends more on how well their personalities match or clash. I think it has far more to do with personality of the pups then the breed (although the breed will to a degree dictate personality).

I was just recently chatting to a lady that was rehoming a 1yr old Pekinese girl, she got two sisters and they were now trying to kill each other every time they saw one another and she had to keep them separated at all times.

Ciara's ears perked by time she was 9 weeks old. I literally have pics of her on a Saturday when one was up and one down and then the next day, both were standing straight up!

I agree with Choochi concerning 2 pups from the same litter.
I'm a breeder since more than 15 years, I breed schnauzer from European line ad I NVER sold 2 llittermates except for one of my best owner as he is from Grmany and us to handle hard dogs.

I have my own story about 2 littermates coming to me from another breeder ! 2 wonderful pepper&salt girls coming directly from Russia at 8 weeks old .
Believe me I never had trouble with pups BUT those girls hat each other sooooo much

They want to kill, they had fighting every single time they were together .......
I had bitches fight nothing compare to those sisters only 8 wks old .....
For sure I still have some breeding dogs which doesn't like another dogs but as adults breeding dogs it's more usual and we know how to manage this.
With a little cuty pups it's horrible.

Be sure to have time to make everything ( walk, traning, feeding, playing) with the 2 , one at the time.
Like we do when we train in ScH: 2 dogs= 2 crates , training 1 dog, the other one in the crate in the truck or at home ...

Yes, having to dogs can gave you more time when they play together but not 24/24 .
I love to have 2 pups around the same age together but I have the experience .

My dogs are all 2 years apart. That way, the youngest has all his basic training finished before a new puppy comes in. Then the new puppy learns from the older dogs.

I agree that two puppies of the same age at the same time is a really bad idea. Two siblings, I would think that would make it even worse!
